different fees, including all legalizations and visas. For
information regarding consular fees, please contact this
Consulate General. Payment could be done by money order or
certified cheque . If sending by mail enclose a pre-paid
registered mail self addressed envelope or a pre-paid return
courrier waybill.
IV. Legalization of Documents.
The validity in Argentina of documents (public and private)
issued in foreign countries are subject to the following:
a) The signature on the document should be certified by the corresponding
authority (e.g. Chamber of notaries, Chamber of Commerce, Board of Health,
Bar Association, Royal
Canadian Mounted Police, Foreign Affairs Canada etc.).
b)
The signatures of the Canadian competent authorities must be
authenticated at the Argentine consulate of your jurisdiction (See Jurisdiction of the
Consulate General in Montreal and check Consular Fees).
c) Documents must be duly translated into Spanish by an
authorized public translator. This can be done in Argentina with a registered
translator. If, however,
you decide to do it in Canada, then the translator's signature
must be certified by the Order (or Association) of Translators of
the province and then legalized by the appropriate Consulate
General of Argentina for your jurisdiction.
Please be informed that there is a new procedure for the legalization of documents and signatures. The need to certify, in Argentina, the signature of the Consul who has legalized the document, has been eliminated. Consequently, once a document or signature has been legalized by this Consulate General, with its respective security folio, it is valid in Argentina without requiring the certification of the signature of the consular authority that has intervened the document.
Note: The signature of the Canadian authority should have been
previously registered in the consular office by that authority.
Signatures must be in original form and name and title stamped or
printed under the signature. Photostat copies must be certified
by the same authority that issued the original documents and must
bear the proper seal.
